# Assign Tools

Select a Work Request from a list to [manage it](/maintenance/manage.md). Then select the Tools tab (hammer and wrench icon).

On the Tools tab you can reserve tools and work equipment and track hours of use. Tool costs (if applicable) are calculated automatically and saved to the request. Tap a tool to update it.

Click the Tool Code field to select a tool from inventory. The tool type and location where the tool is stored are shown under each Tool Code. Use the search field to narrow down the results. Tap a tool to select it and fill in the Tool Code on the form.

You can enter a Date and Time Started and Date and Time Finished to reserve the tool for a specific time frame. Enter the hours used if your organization would like to track that information.
